Indonesia Asri Promotes Responsible Plastic Use and Management Among the
Younger Generation
The Indonesia Asri campaign, initiated by the Chandra Asri Group, held an
educational activity focused on the wise and responsible use of plastic food
containers for the younger generation. Delivered through a cupcake decoration
workshop as an interactive and creative learning activity, participants were
introduced to the characteristics of commonly used plastics such as
polypropylene (PP), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and linear low-density
polyethylene (LLDPE). Through this activity, participants learned about the
specific functions of each type of plastic, the importance of recognising food-
grade labels, and the principles of proper reuse to support a more sustainable
lifestyle. Through Indonesia Asri and its newest program, Jejak Asri, the initiative
provides an inclusive and participatory space that encourages environmentally
responsible lifestyles through a better understanding of plastic functions and
proper waste management. This initiative reflects Chandra Asri Group’s
commitment to providing practical environmental education for the younger
generation and supporting the creation of a greener future.
Promoting Circular Economy, IPST ASARI Strengthens Community-Based Waste
Management in Cilegon
The Integrated Waste Processing Facility (IPST) ASARI in Cilegon City, facilitated
by Chandra Asri Group, has increased its plastic waste processing capacity to up
to 300 kg per day. This downstream waste management initiative is
independently operated by KSM Sehati Maju Bersama to help reduce the burden
on TPSA Bagendung, which currently receives around 200 tons of waste every
day. Since its launch in 2021, the program has involved more than 9,200 local
residents, encouraging the community to see waste, especially plastic, not as a
problem, but as a resource with economic value.
Until now, IPST ASARI has processed more than 79,700 kg of plastic waste.
Around 32,200 kg of this waste has been converted through pyrolysis technology
into approximately 26,800 liters of “PLUSRI” oil. Beyond reducing waste, the
initiative also creates employment opportunities through the production of
“CIRCLO” shredded plastic and the processing of used cooking oil, which
supports the needs of local MSMEs in the surrounding area. Through these
activities, residents gain additional income opportunities while also developing
new local business initiatives.
Strengthening National Resilience, Chandra Asri Group Increases B1 and
MTBE Plants Production Capacity
Chandra Asri Group has increased the production capacity of its Butene-1 (B1)
and Methyl Tert-butyl Ether (MTBE) plants by 25% as a strategic step to
accelerate import substitution efforts and strengthen the resilience of
Indonesia’s petrochemical industry. The facility, located within the Group’s
integrated complex in Cilegon, has been operating optimally after successfully
completing a series of technical trials at the end of February 2026. As the sole
domestic producer of these two strategic raw materials in Indonesia, this
capacity increase emphasises the Group's role in maintaining a reliable supply of
raw materials for the domestic energy and manufacturing sectors.
