BUMA, a Subsidiary of Delta Dunia Group, Wins CSR Outlook Award 2023
Through BUMA School Industrial Class Program
Jakarta, 27 July 2023 – PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA), a subsidiary of PT Delta
Dunia Makmur Tbk. (Delta Dunia Group), wins the CSR Outlook Award 2023 for the Gold in
Best Practice Education category for BUMA School Industrial Class program held at the
operational site of PT Berau Coal LATI. This award is a token of appreciation for the company's
efforts in implementing the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and CSR (Corporate
Social Responsibility) in each aspect of its business operations. The CSR Outlook Award 2023
was held at Soehanna Hall Jakarta, on Tuesday, 26 July 2023.
The CSR Outlook Award 2023 was organized by PT Olahkarsa Inovasi Indonesia in collaboration
with the Indonesian Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD). IBCSD is an
association of Indonesian companies committed to promoting sustainable development through
sustainable economic growth, environmental balance and social growth. BUMA, the only
company to win the Kaltim Education Award in 2022, welcomes this recognition.
Nanang Rizal Achyar, Director of BUMA, said, "We are very proud and honored to receive the
CSR Outlook Award 2023. This award recognizes our commitment to sustainable education
through the company's CSR initiatives, particularly the BUMA School Industrial Class program
implementing Green Curriculum and community engagement. This recognition also reinforces our
commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which is to provide inclusive
and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.
One of BUMA's operational areas is located in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, where BUMA
provides mining services for PT Berau Coal Site LATI Mining Operation. Apart from being the
largest and oldest coal mine of Berau Regency, LATI Mining Operation is also considered as an
area with highest employment rate in East Kalimantan.
The most in demand in the mining sector are heavy equipment operators and mechanics, who
are required to have at least the Basic Operator and Basic Mechanic courses at the time of
recruitment. The high economic potential of the mining sector, especially the coal sector, has led
to a high level of interest among the local population to work in this sector. However, there is a
mismatch between this high level of interest and the skills requirements of the industry. In order
to bridge the gap between the industry's manpower needs and the competencies of the local
workforce, BUMA presents BUMA School Industrial Class as one of the company's CSR
programs.

Therefore, in order to improve the quality of education in BUMA's area of operation, BUMA School
Industrial Class program is conducted in the context of implementing sustainable PSDM (Human
Resource Planning) with the concept of link and match based on vocational education. As the
program progresses, BUMA School Industrial Class has been successful in increasing the
absorption of local labor in Berau in accordance with the mandate of Berau Regency Regional
Regulation No. 8/2018 on the Protection of Local Labor, especially in preparing local labor in
accordance with industry needs.
"This program is the company's effort to empower the local workforce and make a positive
contribution to regional development while promoting a sustainable future, especially in Berau
Regency," said Nanang.
BUMA School Industrial Class collaborates with a number of vocational schools in Berau to
provide special training and development programs to enhance the employability of students by
applying the concept of linking and matching between the World of Business and Industry (DUDI)
and education sector. In addition, BUMA School is implementing a program to increase the
capacity and competence of teachers in schools through the initiation of Training of Trainer (TOT)
and Competency Certification. The aim is that this program will be able to run independently with
qualified teachers in accordance with the industry's demand.
"Through this comprehensive effort, we hope BUMA School can become a sustainable program,
providing long-term community benefits around BUMA's operations while supporting central and
regional government programs to increase local workforce absorption in Berau Regency,"
concluded Nanang.
