 RATING ACTION COMMENTARY

Fitch Affirms Bank SMBC Indonesia at 'AAA(idn)'; Outlook Stable
 Mon 09 Feb, 2026 - 12:18 AM ET

Fitch Ratings - Jakarta - 09 Feb 2026: Fitch Ratings Indonesia has affirmed PT Bank SMBC Indonesia Tbk's (SMBCI) National
Long-Term Rating at 'AAA(idn)' with a Stable Outlook and National Short-Term Rating at 'F1+(idn)'.

'AAA' National Long-Term Ratings denote the highest rating assigned by the agency in its National Rating scale for that
country. This rating is assigned to issuers or obligations with the lowest expectation of default risk relative to all other issuers
or obligations in the same country or monetary union.

'F1' National Short-Term Ratings indicate the strongest capacity for timely payment of financial commitments relative to other
issuers or obligations in the same country. Under the agency's National Rating scale, this rating is assigned to the lowest
default risk relative to others in the same country or monetary union. Where the liquidity profile is particularly strong, a "+" is
 added to the assigned rating.

 KEY RATING DRIVERS

Support-Driven Ratings: SMBCI's National Ratings are support-driven and reflect Fitch's expectation of a high likelihood of
extraordinary support from its ultimate parent, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. (SMFG, A-/Stable/a-) and ultimately, the
Japan sovereign (A/Stable), if needed. SMBCI is 91%-owned by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC, A/Stable/a-),
which is wholly owned by SMFG.

Linked to Ultimate Parent's IDR: SMBCI's rating is linked to SMFG's Long-Term Issuer Default Rating (IDR). This reflects our
expectation that any extraordinary support, if required, would flow from the Japanese government through SMFG and SMBC
to SMBCI, with SMFG acting as the single point of entry. This view reflects Indonesia's strategic importance as a market for
many Japanese companies and SMBCI's important role as part of the group's strategy in Asian emerging markets.

Strategically Important Subsidiary: SMBCI enables the group to cater to Japanese clients operating in Indonesia and is a key
part of the group's multi-franchise strategy, targeting high growth countries in emerging Asia. SMFG, as one of Japan's three
largest banking groups, benefits from strong government support propensity and we expect such support to flow to its
strategically important subsidiaries such as SMBCI.

This considers SMBCI's close operational integration within the group and the potential for high reputational damage to the
ultimate parent if the subsidiary were to default, given their shared branding and the parent's majority ownership of SMBCI.
SMBCI's small absolute size also means potential support required would be immaterial. SMBCI's total assets and equity
accounted for only 0.7% and 3.2%, respectively, of SMFG's consolidated assets and equity at end-September 2025.

 RATING SENSITIVITIES

Factors that Could, Individually or Collectively, Lead to Negative Rating Action/Downgrade

A downgrade of the National Long-Term Rating could result from a weakening in the bank's overall credit profile relative to
other entities within the universe of Indonesian national ratings. This could result from a two-notch downgrade of SMFG's
 Long-Term IDR to 'BBB'.

A downgrade could also result from any perceived weakening in SMFG's propensity to support SMBCI. This could arise from a
declining role for SMBCI in SMFG, perhaps due to a reassessment of its business prospects in Indonesia, or a major change in
ownership, although Fitch sees little risk of these occurring in the near to medium term.

Factors that Could, Individually or Collectively, Lead to Positive Rating Action/Upgrade

There is no rating upside, as the ratings are already at the highest point on the National Rating scale.

security or in a given jurisdiction. The manner of Fitch's factual investigation and the scope of the third-party verification it
obtains will vary depending on the nature of the rated security and its issuer, the requirements and practices in the jurisdiction
in which the rated security is offered and sold and/or the issuer is located, the availability and nature of relevant public
information, access to the management of the issuer and its advisers, the availability of pre-existing third-party verifications

respect to the particular security or in the particular jurisdiction of the issuer, and a variety of other factors. Users of Fitch's

ensure that all of the information Fitch relies on in connection with a rating or a report will be accurate and complete.
Ultimately, the issuer and its advisers are responsible for the accuracy of the information they provide to Fitch and to the

facts, ratings and forecasts can be affected by future events or conditions that were not anticipated at the time a rating or
forecast was issued or affirmed. Fitch Ratings makes routine, commonly-accepted adjustments to reported financial data in
accordance with the relevant criteria and/or industry standards to provide financial metric consistency for entities in the same
 sector or asset class.

The complete span of best- and worst-case scenario credit ratings for all rating categories ranges from 'AAA' to 'D'. Fitch also
provides information on best-case rating upgrade scenarios and worst-case rating downgrade scenarios (defined as the 99th

simple average across asset classes presents best-case upgrades of 4 notches and worst-case downgrades of 8 notches at the
99th percentile. For more details on sector-specific best- and worst-case scenario credit ratings, please see Best- and Worst-
Case Measures under the Rating Performance page on Fitch’s website.
