MedcoEnergi Commences Operations at 25MWp East Bali Solar PV Plant
Bali, June 17th, 2025 - PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MedcoEnergi), through its subsidiary Medco
Power Indonesia (Medco Power) has begun commercial operations at its 25MWp East Bali Solar Photovoltaic
(PV) Plant, PT Medcosolar Bali Timur, located in Karangasem, East Bali.
The East Bali Solar PV plant was developed through a joint venture between Medco Power and Solar
Philippines and is operated under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Indonesia’s state
electricity company, PT PLN (Persero). Over the next two decades, the facility will supply renewable energy
to the local grid—displacing conventional power sources and contributing to national efforts to reduce
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
The plant is expected to generate approximately 50 GWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the energy
needs of around 42,000 households. Over its operational lifetime, it is projected to avoid more than 800,000
tons of CO₂ emissions.
Eka Satria, CEO and President Director of Medco Power, stated, “The integration of the East Bali Solar PV
plant into the local grid will enhance both energy reliability and the sustainability of communities and
businesses in the region.”
Roberto Lorato, CEO of MedcoEnergi, added, “The East Bali Solar PV project is another step in
MedcoEnergi’s long-term strategy to diversify our energy portfolio and invest in low-carbon solutions. As we
continue to grow our renewable energy footprint, we remain committed to driving progress that delivers
environmental, social, and economic value for Indonesia.”
