SMBC Indonesia Partners with SUN Energy to Provide USD10-Million Strategic Financing Facility to
Support Accelera on of Indonesia's Energy Transi on
Jakarta, December 23, 2024 – In efforts to con nue to increase the penetra on of solar energy
u liza on in Indonesia, PT Surya Utama Nuansa (SUN Energy)—one of the largest solar energy project
development companies in Indonesia—has succeeded in establishing a strategic partnership with PT
Bank SMBC Indonesia Tbk (SMBC Indonesia). This partnership materializes in a Mul -Op on Trade
Facility worth USD 10 million to support the opera onal needs and expansion of solar energy projects in
the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector.
Top Features of Mul -Open Trade Facility
The facility provided by SMBC Indonesia is designed with high flexibility to meet the various needs of
SUN Energy, with the following main features:
Le er of Credit (LC): To facilitate the interna onal payment process for the procurement of
required raw materials.
Bank Guarantee: To provide the financial guarantees required for par cipa on in auc on and
tender projects.
Working Capital Loan: To provide a source of opera onal funding to support project con nuity.
The funding facility will be used for two main needs that support each other in SUN Energy's efforts to
strengthen its posi on as a leader in the renewable energy sector. First, the funds will be allocated for
the procurement of solar energy raw materials, which are an important element in suppor ng the
success of projects in the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector. This procurement is carried out
comprehensively without restric ons on certain projects, thus ensuring the flexibility for the company to
meet its ever-growing opera onal needs. With the availability of adequate raw materials, SUN Energy
can ensure the sustainability of ongoing and future strategic projects. This funding will also be used to
strengthen the company's ability to compete in various solar energy project tenders and auc ons.

Compe ve par cipa on in the tender process is an important step for SUN Energy to obtain strategic projects that are of high value, both in terms of environmental impact and economic poten al. This financial support allows SUN Energy to meet various tender requirements, such as providing financial guarantees and ini al procurement of materials, thereby increasing the company's chances of winning important projects in Indonesia. This facility does not only help SUN Energy strengthen its supply chain, but also supports the accelera on of energy transi on in the commercial and industrial sectors. Nathan Chris anto, Head of Wholesale, Commercial, and Transac on Banking SMBC Indonesia, added that SMBC Indonesia ac vely distributes green financing and sustainability-linked loans in projects of environmentally friendly power plants, sustainable planta ons, environmentally friendly vehicles, and other projects that are in line with the Financial Services Authority's policies as a form of the company's commitment to suppor ng the achievement of net zero emissions both in opera onal ac vi es by 2030 and for loan and investment por olios by 2050. "As one of the leading players in solar power projects, SUN Energy has an objec ve alignment with SMBC Indonesia to encourage the development of green businesses, with SMBC Indonesia as a banking solu on provider," said Nathan. SMBC Indonesia recorded sustainable loan disbursement of almost Rp17.3 trillion as of the end of September 2024, or a 18% increase compared to the same period last year, in various sectors, including renewable energy.
