  Chandra Asri Group, ASECH, and Jimbaran Hijau Inaugurate Plastic Asphalt
                              Road Showcase

  Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration for the Development of a Plastic Asphalt Learning Center with a
      Circular Economy Concept to Support the Development of Smart and Sustainable Cities

Bali, June 12, 2024 – PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group), a leading chemical and
infrastructure solutions company in Indonesia, in collaboration with the ASEAN Center of Excellence
on Smart City (ASECH) and Jimbaran Hijau, inaugurated the National Plastic Asphalt Showcase in the
Jimbaran Hijau area on Tuesday (11/07). This National Plastic Asphalt Showcase serves as a Learning
Center for the development of Plastic Asphalt, aimed at inspiring broader implementation in various
regions across Indonesia.

This plastic asphalt showcase will become a Learning Center where policymakers from various regions
can directly observe the use of low-value plastic waste, such as plastic bags, as a mixture in asphalt.
Bali was chosen for this showcase due to its strategic location (an international hub), numerous NGOs
and communities, and its reputation as a top recreational destination worldwide, thereby promoting
the adoption of this plastic asphalt innovation in Indonesia.

Edi Rivai, Director of Legal, External Affairs & Circular Economy Chandra Asri Group, stated, “As a
growth partner, Chandra Asri Group is committed to promoting the sustainable implementation of
plastic asphalt as a solution to plastic waste problems in various regions of Indonesia. The presence of
the National Plastic Asphalt Showcase in Jimbaran, Bali, will facilitate city and district governments
across Indonesia to study this plastic asphalt innovation for wider implementation. This initiative not
only helps reduce environmental burdens but also plays a vital role in building reliable and sustainable
city infrastructure, supporting the vision of greener and more efficient smart cities.”

Yohanes Ronny, Head of the Road Materials Center at the Ministry of Public Works and Housing
(PUPR), during the Plastic Asphalt Showcase talk show session, said, “The application of plastic asphalt
for infrastructure is expected to absorb a large amount of low-value plastic materials. Its application
requires several laboratory tests, addressing challenges and the specific characteristics of the plastic
that need to be defined during the mixing process.”

Meanwhile, Fazri Putrantomo, Director of Waste Reduction at the Ministry of Environment and
Forestry (KLHK), added, “The Indonesian government's target is to reduce the amount of waste in the
ocean by 70% by 2025. In the journey to achieving this target, it is necessary to start handling and
reducing plastic waste. collaborations like this so that this target can be achieved immediately

Chandra Asri Group, in collaboration with various partners, has previously successfully laid 120.8 km
of plastic asphalt by managing 1,086 tons of low-value plastic waste on Java Island. This innovation
has provided long-term benefits for infrastructure development, offering road durability
improvements of up to 40% and more efficient maintenance budgets. Furthermore, the use of plastic
asphalt supports the government's efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
particularly SDG No. 9 on promoting sustainable industry and infrastructure, SDG No. 11 on fostering
sustainable cities, and SDG No. 12 on ensuring responsible consumption and production.
