ENERGY AND GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSION MANAGEMENT
1. In 2025, Merck successfully reduced its Scope 1 and 2 GHG
emissions by 83.3%, or approximately 4,000 tons of CO2e,
compared to the 2020 baseline.
• Scope 2 GHG emissions have already reached zero.
• This reduction rate exceeds the target set for 2030.
• This reduction was primarily contributed by the rooftop PV panels,
which have been operational since 2024 and have reduced
emissions by 465 tons of CO2e per year, as well as the use of
RECs for all electricity generation at the Jakarta site, amounting to
4,134.7 MWh.
2. Emission intensity in 2025 dropped dramatically to 0.8 tons of
CO2e/million tablets (2024:5.6).
3. Emission reduction efforts were offset by savings in energy intensity
and a significant reduction in energy from non-renewable sources. In
contrast, the energy intensity from renewable sources rose to 6.1
MWh/million products (2024:1.6).

The Board of Directors has full responsibility to manage the Company in
good faith, while also seeking opportunities to maximize the utilization
of production facilities at the Pasar Rebo Factory, including:
• Additional production permits for chemical products for diagnostic and
laboratory purposes. However, this plan has not been realized due to
intense competition from factories in other countries to meet the needs
of our target customers (Merck Group affiliates), which is supported by
regulations in those countries.
To address these challenges, in 2026, we
