Uraian Informasi atau Fakta Material Pertamina Geothermal Energy Jajaki Kerja Sama dengan
AGIL untuk Kembangkan Konsesi Longonot di Kenya
Kenya, 21 Agustus 2023 - PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy
Tbk (PGE) (IDX:PGEO) jajaki kerja sama dengan Africa
Geothermal International No. 1 Limited (AGIL No. 1) untuk
mengembangkan potensi panas bumi pada konsesi Longonot
di Kenya.
Langkah kedua belah pihak ini ditandai melalui
penandatanganan Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
yang dilakukan oleh Dr Fred N. Ojiambo, MBS, SC selaku
Board of Directors Africa Geothermal International Limited
(AGIL) dan Julfi Hadi selaku Direktur Utama PT Pertamina
Geothermal Energy Tbk di Nairobi, Kenya pada Minggu
(20/08).
AGIL adalah anak usaha dari AGIL No.1 yang merupakan
perusahaan terbatas di Kenya yang bergerak di bidang
pengembangan energi panas bumi. Salah satunya melalui
wilayah konsesi Longonot di Kenya, yang memiliki potensi
pengembangan sampai dengan 500 Mega Watt (MW) dimana
140 Mega Watt (MW) siap untuk di eksploitasi.
Direktur Utama PGE Julfi Hadi menjelaskan, MOU dengan
AGIL merupakan langkah strategis PGE untuk pengembangan
teknologi dan pemanfaatan sumber daya panas bumi di
mancanegara. "Longonot memiliki keunggulan lokasi dan letak
geologis yang menjadikannya sebagai prospek yang menarik.
Melalui kolaborasi ini, PGE memiliki kesempatan untuk ikut
andil dalam pengembangan energi baru terbarukan, sekaligus
sebagai upaya kami untuk menjadi produsen geothermal
global," ujarnya.
Julfi menambahkan, Afrika merupakan episentrum baru
pertumbuhan ekonomi, sehingga dapat menciptakan iklim
investasi yang baik. Dalam bidang pengembangan panas
bumi, Kenya menjadi negara terdepan di kawasan Afrika
dengan kapasitas terpasang sebesar 865 MW dan berada di
posisi ke-7 dalam peringkat global.
Sebagai produsen geothermal, dia mengungkapkan, PGE
maupun AGIL memiliki keahlian dan pengalaman yang sangat
mumpuni dalam pengembangan geothermal sebagai energi
terbarukan. "Tentunya kami berharap kolaborasi dalam bentuk
kerja sama pengembangan panas bumi ini dapat
meningkatkan eksposur bisnis kedua belah pihak," ujarnya.
Saat ini Indonesia memiliki 2.356 MW kapasitas terpasang dan
80% diantaranya atau sekitar 1.877 MW berasal dari wilayah
kerja PGE dimana 672 MW dikelola langsung PGE. PGE
menargetkan pengembangan kapasitas terpasang yang
diperasikan sendiri hingga 1 Giga Watt (GW) dalam 2 tahun ke
depan.
"Kami optimistis, upaya strategis PGE di Afrika ini dapat
mendukung target PGE dalam meningkatkan kapasitas
terpasang, memperluas portofolio energi bersih secara
internasional dalam rangka mencapai aspirasi perusahaan
energi bersih dunia serta mendukung upaya pengurangan
emisi gas rumah kaca dan ketergantungan pada sumber
energi fosil," tambah Julfi.

Penandatanganan Kerjasama dilakukan di sela kunjungan
kenegaraan RI ke Kenya yang dipimpin oleh Presiden RI Joko
Widodo. Turut hadir dalam kunjungan ini Direktur Utama PT
Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati.
Nicke menyebutkan bahwa kehadiran Pertamina sebagai
bagian dari BUMN Indonesia membawa semangat Pemerintah
melanjutkan Konferensi Asia Afrika di Bandung empat dekade
lalu. Kali ini semangat itu diwujudkan dalam bentuk kerjasama
ekonomi strategis antar negara. "Dalam rangka transisi
energi, kerja sama Pertamina mencakup bisnis di upstream
maupun downstream. Kami membuka semua peluang
termasuk dalam pengembangan geothermal di
Kenya,"ujarnya.

Facts AGIL to Develop Longonot Concession in Kenya
Kenya, August 21, 2023 - PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy
Tbk (PGE) (IDX:PGEO) is exploring cooperation with Africa
Geothermal International No. 1 Limited (AGIL No. 1) to
develop geothermal potential in the Longonot concession in
Kenya.
This step was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) by Dr. Fred N. Ojiambo, MBS, SC as
Board of Directors of Africa Geothermal International Limited
(AGIL) and Julfi Hadi as President Director of PT Pertamina
Geothermal Energy Tbk in Nairobi, Kenya on Sunday (20/08).
AGIL is a subsidiary of AGIL No.1 which is a limited company
in Kenya engaged in the development of geothermal energy.
One of them is through the Longonot concession area in
Kenya, which has a development potential of up to 500 Mega
Watts (MW) of which 140 Mega Watts (MW) are ready for
exploitation.
PGE President Director Julfi Hadi explained that the MOU with
AGIL is a strategic step for PGE to develop technology and
utilize geothermal resources in foreign countries. "Longonot
has location and geological advantages that make it an
attractive prospect. Through this collaboration, PGE has the
opportunity to take part in the development of new renewable
energy, as well as our efforts to become a global geothermal
producer," he said.
Julfi added that Africa is the new epicenter of economic
growth, so it can create a good investment climate. In the field
of geothermal development, Kenya is the leading country in
the African region with an installed capacity of 865 MW and is
in 7th place in the global ranking.
As geothermal producers, he revealed, PGE and AGIL have
very qualified expertise and experience in geothermal
development as renewable energy. "Of course, we hope that
this collaboration in the form of geothermal development
cooperation can increase the business exposure of both
parties," he said.
Indonesia currently has 2,356 MW of installed capacity, 80% of
which or around 1,877 MW comes from PGE's working area,
of which 672 MW is directly managed by PGE. PGE is
targeting the development of self-operated installed capacity
up to 1 Giga Watt (GW) in the next 2 years.
"We are optimistic that PGE's strategic efforts in Africa can
support PGE's targets in increasing installed capacity,
expanding its clean energy portfolio internationally in order to
achieve the aspirations of a global clean energy company and
support efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and
dependence on fossil energy sources," Julfi added.
The signing of the Cooperation was carried out on the
sidelines of the Indonesian state visit to Kenya led by
Indonesian President Joko Widodo. Also attending the visit
was PT Pertamina (Persero) President Director Nicke
Widyawati.

Nicke said that Pertamina's presence as part of Indonesia's
SOEs carries the spirit of the Government continuing the
Asian-African Conference in Bandung four decades ago. This
time the spirit is realized in the form of strategic economic
cooperation between countries. "In the context of energy
transition, Pertamina's cooperation includes businesses in the
upstream and downstream. We open all opportunities
including in geothermal development in Kenya," she said.
