SAKA Drives Production Growth through Optimization of Oil and Gas Assets
PT Saka Energi Indonesia (SAKA), the upstream oil and gas subsidiary of Pertamina’s Gas
Subholding, continues to reinforce its operational resilience and long-term growth
trajectory through disciplined asset optimization, targeted exploration activities, and the
deployment of advanced operational technologies. These efforts are aimed at sustaining
production performance while contributing to Indonesia’s long-term energy security.
For 2026, SAKA targets an estimated net production of 24,000 barrels of oil equivalent
per day (BOEPD), representing an increase of approximately 10.4% year-on-year. The
target reflects the company’s strategic focus on maximizing the value of its producing
assets while advancing field development initiatives to ensure production sustainability.
Production growth will be supported by integrated field optimization programs,
development drilling campaigns, workover activities on existing wells, and continued
improvements in operational reliability and efficiency. These initiatives form part of
SAKA’s broader commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient upstream
operations.
In late 2025, SAKA successfully drilled the UPA-17ST development well in the Pangkah
Working Area, which has now been brought onstream with encouraging production
results of approximately 2,430 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 2.3 million standard cubic
feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. The well contributes to maintaining production
performance from existing assets while strengthening the company’s operational
portfolio.
SAKA President Director Intan Fauzi stated that the company remains focused on
sustaining production growth through integrated upstream strategies and disciplined
operational execution.
“Our 2026 production target reflects SAKA’s commitment to strengthening upstream
performance through asset optimization, continued development drilling, and
exploration initiatives that support sustainable production growth,” she said.

During 2025, SAKA successfully delivered three development wells and two workover
operations, exceeding the initial work program. In the Pangkah Working Area, these
initiatives contributed to oil production reaching 113% of the target outlined in the
Company Work Plan and Budget (RKAP). The achievement was supported by a range of
operational efficiency initiatives, including the successful drilling of the SID-5
development well, which significantly enhanced production performance.
Alongside production activities, SAKA continues to strengthen its resource base through
exploration. The company recently completed geophysical and geotechnical surveys in
the Pekawai Working Area as part of site preparation for planned exploration drilling. The
upcoming exploration campaign is expected to unlock additional hydrocarbon resources
and support long-term production sustainability.
“Through a balanced approach between production optimization and exploration, SAKA
aims to sustain its growth trajectory while contributing to Indonesia’s energy
independence,” Intan added.
