      Star Energy Geothermal Begins First Exploration Well Drilling in Hamiding,
                              North Maluku

Jakarta, 20 October 2025 — PT Star Energy Geothermal Indonesia (SEGI), a subsidiary of PT Barito
Renewables Energy Tbk (IDX: BREN), has officially commenced drilling its first exploration well known
as well-spudding in the Hamiding area, North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province. The event
was attended by representatives from Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), stakeholder
representatives from local government, management of Star Energy Geothermal as well as regional
leaders and local community figures. This exploration drilling activity is part of the Preliminary Survey
and Exploration Assignment (PSPE) granted by the Ministry of MEMR in 2018.

Hamiding is projected to hold geothermal resources with a potential capacity of 275–550 MW, making
it one of the strategic geothermal reserve areas in Eastern Indonesia. The drilling of this first exploration
well marks an important step to confirm the existence of a geothermal reservoir that can be developed
into a power generation unit. The initial phase of the geothermal power plant development is planned
to reach 50 MW from a target of 300 MW installed capacity, contributing to Indonesia’s national energy
mix and supporting the transition toward clean energy.

The drilling operation will utilize a 1,500 HP Drilling Rig 253, designed to penetrate complex geological
formations and reach the targeted geothermal reservoir depth. The drilling activities are being
conducted under the highest safety standards, with strong environmental protection measures, and
through the empowerment of local communities.

CEO Barito Renewables, Hendra Soetjipto Tan said, “This well-spudding activity is part of our journey
to deliver clean energy for Indonesia. Our three geothermal fields in Salak, Darajat, and Wayang Windu
have long contributed to lighting up millions of homes. The progress achieved in this PSPE program
would not have been possible without the support of the central government, regional authorities, our
partners, and the local communities. We hope to maintain and further strengthen this good
relationship going forward.”

Hendra further expressed his hope that this historic milestone would symbolize the spirit of
collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, paving the way toward a brighter future for the next
generations. Beyond the energy benefits, this exploration activity is also expected to generate positive
economic impacts for North Halmahera Regency, including increased local employment opportunities,
strengthened regional economic capacity through the involvement of MSMEs and local service
providers, as well as technology transfer and skills development through workforce training programs.
