In accordance with the explanation given by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bahlil Lahadalia in a press conference held on June 10, 2025, it was stated that PT Gag Nikel continues to operate because it has undertaken mining in accordance with the AMDAL, as guoted from CNBCindonesia.com news https://www.cnbcindonesia.com/news/20250610120308-4-639674/izin-pt-gag- nikel-di-raja-ampat-tak-dicabut-ini-alasan-bahlil. PT Gag Nikel has implemented the principles of good mining practices and complied with all applicable laws and regulations including environmental approval from the Ministry of Environment. On this matter, PT Gag Nikel has obtained two PROPERS, namely 1 Blue PROPER and 1 Green PROPER from the Ministry of Environment, which means that environmental management at PT Gag Nikel not only complied with environmental management standards based on its laws and regulations, but also made various innovations that are beyond the reguired environmental standards. In addition, PT Gag Nikel also received Good Mining Practice awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, especially for three categories of environmental management, mining technical and mineral conservation. Since obtaining the production IUP in 2017 and starting operations in 2018, PT Gag Nikel has implemented various sustainability programs, including: 1. Rehabilitations of Watersheds (DAS): From 2018 to December 2024, 666.6 hectares of watersheds have been rehabilitated, with 231.1 hectares of plants successfully grown, and another 150 hectares in the assessment process. 2. Reclamation of Mining Area: Reclamation area reached 131.42 hectares, with the planting of more than 350,000 trees, including 70,000 endemic and local trees to accelerate ecosystem recovery. 3. Coral Reef Conservation: A coral reef transplantation program of 1,000 m? was implemented in the coastal area of Raja Ampat, with guarterly monitoring by an internal team and annual supervision with Politeknik Kelautan dan Perikanan Sorong, as a realization of industrial and academic synergy. 4. Environmental Ouality Monitoring: Data for 2024 indicate that SO», NO», PM,o, and PM,.5 levels at the jetty, mine, and pit sites remain well below the threshold. Mine wastewater had a stable pH (7-8), TSS was only 5-27 mg/L (guality standard: 200 mg/L), and Chromium VI levels were recorded at 0.03-0.07 mg/L (limit: 0.1 mg/L). Noise levels at all monitoring points did not exceed 70 dBA. These programs reflect that PT Gag Nikel attempt to ensure, both nickel exploration and production are in harmony with the preservation of ecosystems and the welfare of local communities. As part of the effort toward better mining governance, ANTAM will continue to improve the management of its operations and environmental practices in accordance with international standards. This includes involving independent parties in all aspects of the company's business, including PT Gag Nikel. This is carried out to ensure that all operations are in accordance with good mining and environmental management principles and in accordance with current international standards.
