Government-PGN Synergy Secures Domestic Gas Resilience, PGN Secures
Additional Supply through Gas Swap Agreement
Jakarta – With strong support from the Government of Indonesia, PT Perusahaan
Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) has secured additional gas supply to meet the growing
domestic demand. PGN signed two strategic agreements—the Domestic Swap
Agreement and the Gas Sales Agreement—with the West Natuna Group.
Under the terms of these agreements, a portion of the gas previously allocated for
export to Singapore by the West Natuna Group will be redirected and utilized by
PGN for domestic needs. PGN President Director Arief S. Handoko signed the
agreements during the Indonesian Petroleum Association Convention & Exhibition
(IPA Convex) 2025 on May 21, 2025.
This milestone further underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to
strengthening domestic gas supply. Following the signing of the gas swap
agreement, PGN has secured an additional gas volume of over 71.83 BBTUD
through six agreements formalized during the event.
The signing also reflects the spirit of the directive delivered by the President of the
Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, during the Signing Ceremony of New
Production Sharing Contracts and Commercial Agreements at IPA Convex 2025.
“Let us work together—domestic and international private sectors, SOEs, and all
levels of government. Collaboration is key to achieving our national goals.
Continued reliance on imports places a significant burden on our resources,”
President Prabowo stated.
Head of SKK Migas, Djoko Siswanto, emphasized that the domestic gas swap
mechanism is a tangible measure to mitigate the potential gas supply deficit. To
date, import alternatives remain avoidable, as the government implements this
mechanism using supply from the Natuna region.
“We sincerely appreciate the government’s holistic support in ensuring domestic gas
availability. PGN is committed to optimizing the newly secured supply to ensure
continued service reliability and national energy security,” said Arief.

PGN expects this domestic gas swap initiative to further strengthen collective efforts
in stabilizing and enhancing the efficiency of domestic gas supply. This policy plays
a vital role in supporting energy needs across various sectors, particularly industry,
while reducing reliance on imported energy through optimal utilization of domestic
natural gas resources.
