PGN Strengthens National Energy Security, FSRU Lampung Receives 130,000 m³ LNG
Supply from Bontang
Jakarta — PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), a Gas Subholding of Pertamina,
continues to strengthen Indonesia’s energy security by optimizing the Floating Storage
Regasification Unit (FSRU) Lampung. This initiative is part of PGN’s strategy to provide a
reliable, flexible, and sustainable natural gas supply to support industrial growth and public
needs.
Through its subsidiary, PT PGN LNG Indonesia (PLI), PGN successfully carried out a ship-to-
ship (STS) LNG transfer from the Bontang LNG Terminal to the FSRU Lampung on April 13–
14, 2025. The facility plays a strategic role as a key distribution point for regasified LNG,
directly connected to the South Sumatra–West Java (SSWJ) transmission pipeline network.
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been converted into liquid form by cooling
it to cryogenic temperatures, enabling cost-efficient transport from production sites not
connected to pipeline infrastructure. Upon arrival at the FSRU Lampung, the LNG undergoes
regasification and is then injected into PGN’s pipeline network for distribution to industrial,
commercial, and residential end-users.
“PGN’s integrated investment in both pipeline and non-pipeline infrastructure demonstrates
our commitment to securing gas supply reliability across all customer segments and
supporting Indonesia’s energy transition. FSRU Lampung stands as a strategic asset in
realizing this goal,” said PGN Corporate Secretary, Fajriyah Usman, (14/14/2025).
Since commencing commercial operations in May 2024, FSRU Lampung has shown a positive
growth trajectory. As of March 2025, average gas delivery volume reached 175.37 BBTUD,
with utilization continuing to rise in line with the increasing number of industrial and retail
customers.
“The optimization of FSRU Lampung is also part of PGN’s broader strategy to strengthen its
LNG business portfolio. The initiative is designed to enhance supply chain efficiency, expand
market reach in areas not served by pipeline infrastructure, and provide greater flexibility in
gas supply management,” Fajriyah added.
By integrating LNG into Indonesia’s energy transition roadmap, PGN is well-positioned to
deliver cleaner and more competitive energy. The Company also strengthening stakeholder
collaboration to ensure operational continuity and create value for our shareholders.
