Uraian Informasi atau Fakta Material Ajang The 10th Indonesia International Geothermal
Convention & Exhibition (IIGCE) 2024 mengukuhkan posisi
energi panas bumi sebagai energi hijau yang strategis untuk
membantu agenda transisi energi nasional dan pencapaian
target Net Zero Emission (NZE) 2060. Untuk merealisasikan
potensi ini, diperlukan kapasitas yang mumpuni serta
kolaborasi dalam menggali sumber daya dan mempercepat
pengembangan energi panas bumi.
IIGCE yang digelar di Jakarta Convention Center pada 18-20
September 2024, dibuka oleh Presiden RI Joko Widodo
bersama Menteri Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral (ESDM)
Bahlil Lahadalia, Rabu (18/9). Dalam sambutannya, Presiden
Joko Widodo menegaskan pentingnya peran panas bumi bagi
masa depan energi Indonesia dan komitmen penuh
pemerintah untuk mendukung dan memfasilitasi kolaborasi
antara berbagai pihak guna mewujudkan pengembangan
panas bumi yang berdampak nyata pada kesejahteraan rakyat
dan keberlanjutan. Sementara itu, Menteri ESDM Bahlil
Lahadalia menyampaikan bahwa dengan sumber daya 24
GW, Indonesia memiliki cadangan panas bumi terbesar kedua
setelah Amerika Serikat, yang menjadikannya salah satu
instrumen penting dalam meningkatkan porsi energi baru dan
terbarukan (EBT) dalam bauran energi nasional.
Pada momentum IIGCE ini, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy
Tbk (PGE) (IDX: PGEO) turut ambil bagian dalam special
session mengenai kolaborasi antara industri panas bumi dan
pemerintah, serta peluang dan tantangan yang ada.
Pembicara lainnya termasuk Wakil Ketua Komisi VII Dewan
Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR) RI Eddy Soeparno, Direktur
Jenderal Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam Ekosistem (KSDAE)
Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK)
Satyawan Pudyatmoko, Direktur Jenderal Ketenagalistrikan
Kementerian ESDM Jisman P. Hutajulu, Direktur Panas Bumi,
Direktorat Jenderal Energi Baru, Terbarukan, dan Konservasi
Energi (EBTKE) Kementerian ESDM Gigih Udi Atmo, Direktur
Utama Star Energy Geothermal Hendra Soetjipto Tan, dan
Duta Besar Selandia Baru untuk Indonesia H.E. Kevin Burnett,
ONZM.
Pada kesempatan tersebut, Direktur Utama PGE Julfi Hadi
menyampaikan bahwa panas bumi memiliki karakteristik
unggul sebagai pemikul beban dasar kelistrikan (baseload
energy) yang menjadikannya ideal untuk menggantikan
sumber energi konvensional. Namun, baru sekitar 2,6 GW
atau 11% dari sumber daya yang sudah dikembangkan.
Padahal, untuk mencapai target kapasitas 10,5 GW pada 2035
sesuai dengan target bauran energi nasional, dibutuhkan
penambahan kapasitas 700-800 MW setiap tahun. Tantangan
utamanya adalah keekonomian proyek panas bumi.
Pengembangan energi panas bumi di Indonesia perlu strategi
khusus untuk meningkatkan daya tarik komersial tanpa
menaikkan harga jual listrik yang telah ditentukan pemerintah.
Adopsi teknologi terbaru untuk meningkatkan efisiensi serta
skala operasi yang lebih besar diperlukan untuk menurunkan
biaya dan membuat proyek pengembangan lebih layak secara
ekonomi, kata Julfi Hadi dalam paparannya mengenai strategi
pengembangan panas bumi yang membutuhkan perubahan
paradigma di kalangan pelaku industri dan pemangku
kepentingan.
Julfi Hadi juga menekankan bahwa upaya menciptakan
ekosistem yang ideal untuk percepatan pengembangan energi
panas bumi memang membutuhkan kapasitas yang kuat dari
pengembang panas bumi. Dalam hal ini, skala usaha dan
sumber daya yang dimiliki pengembang panas bumi menjadi

kuncinya.
PGE dengan keunggulan kompetitifnya mampu memberikan
dukungan untuk mewujudkan ekosistem yang ideal untuk
percepatan pengembangan panas bumi. PGE memiliki sumber
daya 3 GW di seluruh wilayah kerjanya yang 60%-nya
merupakan aset panas bumi berkualitas tinggi. PGE memiliki
kapasitas untuk menjalankan strategi itu.
Kolaborasi dengan berbagai pemangku kepentingan juga
merupakan elemen penting dalam menciptakan ekosistem
yang ideal untuk pengembangan energi panas bumi. PGE juga
bekerja sama erat dengan pemerintah untuk memastikan
inisiatifnya sejalan dengan agenda transisi energi nasional.
Selain itu, PGE bermitra dengan sejumlah perusahaan Tanah
Air untuk manufaktur komponen utama pembangkit listrik
panas bumi seperti heat exchanger dan cooling tower guna
meningkatkan kandungan lokal dan menekan biaya.
Dukungan dari pemerintah berupa insentif fiskal dan non-
fiskal, serta implementasi mekanisme cost recovery, sangat
penting untuk mengurangi risiko investasi awal dan
mempercepat pengembanan panas bumi.
PGE berperan sebagai main engine dalam upaya Indonesia
menuju energi bersih, tidak hanya dengan gagasan baru tetapi
juga melalui tindakan nyata. Namun, PGE dan juga Pertamina
tidak bisa bekerja dan menyelesaikan semua tantangan
tersebut sendiri. Kami berharap semua pemangku
kepentingan dapat berkolaborasi bersama-sama, tutup Julfi

Description of Material Information or The 10th Indonesia International Geothermal Convention &
Facts Exhibition (IIGCE) 2024 confirmed the position of geothermal
energy as a strategic green energy to help the national energy
transition agenda and the achievement of the 2060 Net Zero
Emission (NZE) target. To realize this potential, qualified
capacity and collaboration are needed to explore resources
and accelerate the development of geothermal energy.
The IIGCE, held at the Jakarta Convention Center on
September 18-20, was opened by Indonesian President Joko
Widodo and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil
Lahadalia on Wednesday (18/9). In his remarks, President
Joko Widodo emphasized the important role of geothermal for
Indonesia's energy future and the government's full
commitment to support and facilitate collaboration between
various parties to realize geothermal development that has a
real impact on people's welfare and sustainability. Meanwhile,
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia
said that with 24 GW of resources, Indonesia has the second
largest geothermal reserves after the United States, which
makes it one of the important instruments in increasing the
share of new and renewable energy (EBT) in the national
energy mix.
During the IIGCE, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk
(PGE) (IDX: PGEO) took part in a special session on
collaboration between the geothermal industry and the
government, as well as opportunities and challenges. Other
speakers included Deputy Chairman of Commission VII of the
House of Representatives (DPR) Eddy Soeparno, Director
General of Ecosystem Natural Resources Conservation
(KSDAE) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF)
Satyawan Pudyatmoko, Director General of Electricity of the
Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Jisman P. Hutajulu,
Director of Geothermal, Directorate General of New,
Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of
MEMR Gigih Udi Atmo, President Director of Star Energy
Geothermal Hendra Soetjipto Tan, and New Zealand
Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Kevin Burnett, ONZM.
On the occasion, PGE President Director Julfi Hadi said that
geothermal has superior characteristics as a baseload energy
that makes it ideal to replace conventional energy sources.
However, only around 2.6 GW or 11% of the resources have
been developed. In fact, to reach the capacity target of 10.5
GW by 2035 in accordance with the national energy mix target,
an additional 700-800 MW capacity is needed every year. The
main challenge is the economics of geothermal projects.
The development of geothermal energy in Indonesia needs a
special strategy to increase commercial attractiveness without
increasing the electricity selling price set by the government.
Adoption of the latest technologies to improve efficiency as
well as a larger scale of operations are needed to lower costs
and make development projects more economically viable,
said Julfi Hadi in his presentation on geothermal development
strategies that require a paradigm shift among industry players
and stakeholders.
Julfi Hadi also emphasized that efforts to create an ideal
ecosystem for the accelerated development of geothermal
energy do require a strong capacity from geothermal
developers. In this case, the scale of business and resources
owned by geothermal developers are key.
PGE with its competitive advantage is able to provide support
to realize the ideal ecosystem for the acceleration of
geothermal development. PGE has 3 GW of resources
throughout its working area, 60% of which are high-quality

geothermal assets. PGE has the capacity to execute the
strategy.
Collaboration with various stakeholders is also an important
element in creating an ideal ecosystem for geothermal energy
development. PGE also works closely with the government to
ensure its initiatives are in line with the national energy
transition agenda. In addition, PGE has partnered with a
number of Indonesian companies to manufacture key
components of geothermal power plants such as heat
exchangers and cooling towers to increase local content and
reduce costs.
Support from the government in the form of fiscal and non-
fiscal incentives, as well as the implementation of a cost
recovery mechanism, is essential to reduce initial investment
risk and accelerate geothermal development.
PGE serves as the main engine in Indonesia's efforts towards
clean energy, not only with new ideas but also through
concrete actions. However, PGE and Pertamina cannot work
and solve all these challenges alone. We hope all stakeholders
can collaborate together, Julfi Hadi concluded.
