PGN Develops Natural Gas Network in the Tourism Industry with ITDC
Jakarta – Continuing its commitment to building natural gas infrastructure (Jargas)
across various regions of Indonesia, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) is now
entering the tourism industry sector. This was realized through the signing of a
Memorandum of Understanding for the Development of Natural Gas Networks for
hotel and restaurant customers with a subsidiary of Injourney Tourism
Development Corporation, PT ITDC Nusantara Utilitas (INU), on Tuesday
(09/10/2024).
PGN was represented by Hedi Hedianto, General Manager of Sales and Operation
Region III, while INU was represented by AA Istri Ratna Dewi, President Director.
The event was also attended by PGN's Commercial Director, Ratih Esti Prihatini.
“This marks the beginning of our efforts to meet the targets of both pipeline and
non-pipeline gas network development. We hope that this collaboration can lead
to more concrete levels and contribute better to PGN and INU, as part of the
synergy between state-owned enterprises, particularly between Pertamina Group
and ITDC,” said Ratih Esti Prihatini, PGN’s Commercial Director.
The agreement aims to explore potential in planning, development, management,
and provision of natural gas in areas managed by INU, to fulfill energy needs for
users in the tourism sector, particularly hotels, restaurants, and other related
sectors. The areas managed by INU include the Mandalika Special Economic Zone
(KEK) in Central Lombok Regency, NTB, and Golo Mori in West Manggarai, NTT.
These areas are included in the scope of collaboration with PGN and have been
designated by the government to become international tourism destinations with
planned improvements.
Other forms of implementation may also take place through joint optimization of
assets owned by both parties, or by engaging in other business synergies that could
provide mutual benefits.

AA Istri Ratna Dewi, President Director of INU, expressed that the Nusa Dua area is
already equipped with a gas network, including its installation. She hopes that
natural gas can also be provided in other INU operation areas, such as the rapidly
growing Mandalika area, where there is potential for developing a natural gas
network.
“The PGN-INU collaboration will begin with a feasibility study. Region III covers a
vast area from Central Java, Kalimantan, to Eastern Indonesia, and a team is already
in place, so daily coordination will be more efficient,” added Hedi Hedianto, General
Manager of Sales and Operation Region III PGN.
As of the first half of 2024, PGN has served 3,154 industrial and commercial
customers, 2,017 small customers, and 816,063 household customers. With the
opening of new potential in special economic zones, especially in the tourism
sector, PGN can support the growth of natural gas customers and penetrate new
regions.
Opening new potential for the equitable use of natural gas across Indonesia is PGN’s
goal during the sustainable energy transition era. PGN hopes that collaborations like
this can continue to grow, making it easier for the public to benefit from natural gas
consumption.
