Chandra Asri Group Operates a Bag Film Roll Plant
for Heavy-Duty Packaging Production
The Bag Film Roll plant is planned to utilize 30% recycled materials to absorb used materials
from consumers.
Jakarta, June 25th , 2024 – PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group), a leading chemical
and infrastructure solutions company in Indonesia, currently operates a Bag Film Roll (BFR) Plant
that produces Heavy Duty Sacks. The BFR Plant utilizes Polyethylene products from the
Company, namely Metallocene and HDPE which are commonly used as raw materials for plastic
bags. The production process at BFR Plant is also currently testing use of 30% recycled material
specifically Post Consumer Recycle (PCR) sacks from consumers. The establishment of the BFR
Plant is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the Company's internal supply chain and serve
better meet customer needs.
In the past year, the BFR Plant has produced packaging for Chandra Asri Group’s resin products,
Asrene® and Trilene®. The BFR Plant adopts Blown Film technology from Germany, reowned
for its reliability in producing high-quality industrial packaging. This technology also enables the
plant to consistently manufacture products with a thickness exceeding 100 microns. With these
specifications, the resulting product has been tested to be shatter, tear, and weather resistant.
These advantages make BFR products suitable for packaging polymer products such as plastic
pellets and safe for use with food products.
Boedijono Hadipoespito, Director of Downstream Production at Chandra Asri Group,
stated, “As a growth partner, Chandra Asri Group continues to innovate to produce value-added
products needed for the development of the national petrochemical industry. The establishment
of the BFR Plant is also in line with the Company's efforts to maximize internal resources while
providing product protection until it is delivered to the consumer. Moving forward, Chandra Asri
Group also plans to expand the commercialization of the BFR Plant by meeting customer
demands across Indonesia.”
At the BFR Plant, Chandra Asri Group utilizes equipment with an efficient air-cooling system to
reduce energy and water usage. The company selectively adopts the best technology to minimize
noise levels. Additionally, the company ensures that the cooling agents used in the production
process are environmentally friendly and free from ozone-depleting substances (non-ODS –
Ozone Depleting Substance).
