3UMN:. (antam 9 PRESS RELEASE PT ANTAM Tbk For immediate release ANTAM - IBC Establish Integrated EV Industry Ecosystem with CBL Jakarta, July 4, 2025 - PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTAM) and Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) continue strengthening their strategic role in the national battery industry ecosystem. In Collaboration with global partner CBL - a joint venture between CATL, Brunp, and Lygend, the world's number one battery player - ANTAM and IBC are developing a series of integrated electric vehicle battery ecosystem projects spanning upstream to downstream. The construction of this integrated battery plant was officially initiated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. Also present at the inauguration were the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong, members of the Indonesian cabinet, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, Karawang Regent Aep Saepuloh, MIND ID President Director Maroef Sjamsoeddin, ANTAM President Director Achmad Ardianto, CATL Vice Chairman Li Ping, Ningbo CBL Chairman Li Changdong, IBC President Director Toto Nugroho, and PT CBL President Director Wu Zhihui. In his speech, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the development of an integrated electric vehicle (EV) battery industry ecosystem is a tangible step toward realizing Indonesia's national vision. “The dream of industrial downstreaming has existed since our first President, Bung Karno. Our subseguent presidents have continued this dream and have implemented downstream policies,” said the President. He added that this is the largest project in Southeast Asia and a testament to Indonesia's commitment to driving environmentally friendly energy. The President welcomed the strategic cooperation with global partners in building this green battery industry ecosystem. This inauguration marks a concrete step in Indonesia's energy transition efforts. The project is also expected to strengthen national industrial independence by utilizing strategic minerals in the global EV supply chain. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the project reaffirms Indonesia's position as a resource-rich country capable of collaborating with neighbour countries that possess advanced technology in EV ecosystem development. “This project supports the President's directive on energy independence. It will reduce the need to import raw energy materials and is a concrete step in downstream development supporting local economic growth,” said Bahlil. 3UMN:. (antam 9 PRESS RELEASE PT ANTAM Tbk For immediate release Upstream Operations in East Halmahera, ANTAM and CBL have formed a joint venture for nickel mining operations to supply the battery industry. They are also building RKEF and HPAL processing plants and the Buli Industrial Area (KIB), which will be supported by clean energy, an integrated water system, and a cloud-based control centre. ANTAM President Director Achmad Ardianto explained that the RKEF plant will adopt the world's first automated ferronickel refining technology developed by Brunp. An annual production capacity of 88,000 tons of nickel sets a new benchmark for low-energy green smelting. “Aligned with ESG practices, we and our strategic partners are committed to creating an environmentally friendly battery ecosystem to support a sustainable national energy transition,” he stated. The HPAL plant, with an annual capacity of 55,000 tons of nickel, will use advanced third-generation technology and a gravity-based, tiered layout to optimize material flow. “This integrated project, supplying green energy, aims to strengthen Indonesia's position in the global sustainable energy sector,” added Ardianto. Midstream & Downstream in Karawang, IBC and CBL are constructing a Battery Cell Plant as part of an integrated project. The project includes the development of facilities for producing battery active materials - precursor and cathode -as well as battery recycling. IBC President Director Toto Nugroho said that IBC and global partners are preparing a production line for high-guality battery active materials at KIB. The plant is designed to process 16,000 tons of nickel sulfate annually, producing 30,000 tons of precursors and 30,000 tons of cathode active material. “This upstream facility aims to reduce reliance on imported cathode raw materials - the most valuable component in a battery cell - while increasing domestic value-added nickel,” said Toto. Semi-finished materials will be transported westward to Karawang from East Halmahera. At this strategic industrial zone, IBC and CBL are building a battery cell factory with an initial capacity of 6.9 GWh (Phase 1), which is projected to scale up to 15 GWh within 5 years. This advanced production line is expected to begin operations in 2026, producing cells for EV's and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for domestic and export markets. IBC, a consortium of PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium, ANTAM, PT Pertamina Power Indonesia and PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) along with CBL, is committed to making the Karawang battery cell factory a regional hub for ASEAN, fulfill Ev and BESS demand in the region. This commitment is reinforced through a joint venture agreement already in place. 3UMN: (antam 9 PRESS RELEASE PT ANTAM Tbk For immediate release This initiative reflects Indonesia's strategic role in growing the EV ecosystem in ASEAN. It proves that Indonesia can supply raw materials and transform them into high-value products in the global battery supply chain. Looking ahead, IBC and CBL will complete the battery cycle with a recycling plant capable of processing 20,000 tons of used batteries per year into reusable battery materials. The technology is said to recover over 9596 of valuable metals, thus reducing carbon emissions and maintaining circular economy principles. “Recycling is the key to sustainability. Today's end-of-life battery must become tomorrow's resource,” said Toto. Beyond supply chain efficiency, ANTAM and IBC also emphasize social and environmental benefits. The ANTAM-IBC-CBL consortium is preparing vocational programs for local communities, creating thousands of new jobs, and supporting the growth of local SMEs. All projects are carried out according to Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) standards-from tailings management in Halmahera to clean energy use in Karawang and safety protocols at recycling facilities. “Our vision is clear, not just to build factories, but to create an integrated green ecosystem with broad economic impact while protecting the planet,” Toto concluded. With this series of strategic projects, ANTAM and IBC hope Indonesia will emerge as a key player in the global battery industry, not merely as a raw material supplier, but as a producer of high-tech, high-value-added battery components. ## For further information please contact Syarif Faisal Alkadrie Corporate Secretary Tel: (6221) 789 1234 Fax: (6221) 789 1224 E-mail: corsec@antam.com www.antam.com erantamtbk IKI cOffcialantam WP GOffcialAntam (CJ OffcialANTAM (G) officialantam
