Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions in SBI's business activities have been identified as the most important
material topic, so to ensure that our commitment to reducing GHG emissions can continue to be maintained, we
have developed a management system that begins with the establishment of a permanent special organization
responsible for managing GHG emissions issues. We have designed a decarbonization roadmap until 2030 that
targets a reduction of up to 29% on a 2010 basis through priority action plans, namely the use of alternative fuels
and materials, substitution of slag in cement with by-products or waste, energy efficiency and the use of
renewable energy. In addition, we also continue to develop sustainable innovations through research
partnerships with universities or other research institutions for carbon removal, including carbon emission
absorption using microalgae, concrete product innovations that absorb air pollutants, replication of domestic
waste processing facilities into RDF in Indonesia and many more. Our efforts have succeeded in reducing CO2
emissions by 16.5% compared to the 2010 baseline through the achievement of a Thermal Substitution Rate (the
rate of heat energy replacement from alternative fuels to fossil fuels) of 13% and a slag ratio in cement of 69%.
The initiatives we are taking in 2024 are to increase combustion efficiency through the application of Hydrogen
Rich Gas Injection technology; Advanced Process Control (APC) for CO2 reduction, which allows automatic
monitoring to optimize energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions.
